Meet our Governors

Prior to his retirement at the end of 2025 George had a career in local government finance, working for a number of councils around the country including spells as Chief Finance Officer and being responsible for large local government pension funds. His final role before retirement was as Director of the South Yorkshire Pensions Authority which is based in Barnsley and is responsible for one of the largest pension funds in the country. As part of this role George contributed to a range of national bodies including the Local Government Pension Scheme Advisory Board and led the delivery of a programme of investment in South Yorkshire and one of the largest agricultural land transactions ever to take place in the UK. In retirement George provides advice on local investment to a local government investment company and undertakes advisory and non-executive roles for local government pension funds.
