Applying for financial support for the 2026/27 academic year
Barnsley College provides financial support to eligible students while they are studying. To be considered for support, all students must submit a new financial support application each academic year. The application includes questions about their living circumstances and, students must provide evidence of their household income to assess eligibility.
How to apply
Students can apply for financial support via the Pay My Student website. Students are required to register an account via the Pay My Student Portal.
Please ensure you have your Student number ready to register an account.

What documents you require ready when applying
As part of your application for financial support, you are required to provide additional documentation based on the answers you provide in your application.
This may include evidence relating to your own income or that of your parent(s), guardian(s), or partner, such as:
- Universal Credit award notices
- Recent wage slips
- Self-employment income or tax documents
- Asylum support documentation
If you are a student who is care experienced, you will be required to provide supporting documentation from your Local Authority. Any evidence requested must be submitted before your application can be fully assessed for eligibility.
Further support available if struggling online
Financial support applications must be completed online. However, support is available if you need help with your application. Please have a look at the guide or video above in the first instance. If you still need support, you can visit Student Services at the Old Mill Lane campus, email: studentfunding@barnsley.ac.uk, or speak to your Personal Tutor or Tutorial Team at any time for assistance.
Please note: if you need to provide financial evidence or supporting documentation, you may be required to speak to a member of staff before submitting your documents. Applications and supporting evidence sent by post may not be accepted automatically and may be returned or require further verification before they can be processed.
