Supporting digital innovation within teaching with the first EdTech Community event at Barnsley College University Centre
Barnsley College University Centre (BCUC) has hosted the first of many EdTech meetups in collaboration with the South Yorkshire College Partnership; to share expertise and how emerging technologies can enhance education, support workforce readiness and drive long-term benefits for the region.
BCUC welcomed educators, technologists and those passionate about the future of education with the aim of supporting good practice in Teaching and Learning through meaningful support, collaboration and technology.
The event, which was held at the University Centre’s newly refurbished Church Street campus, housing the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology. Representatives from the partnership colleges shared excellent practice in digital Pedagogy, through inspiring conversations and hands-on workshops, including sessions in Copilot, Immersive Spaces and Virtual Reality.
The South Yorkshire College Partnership combines the collective expertise and ambitions of Barnsley College, DN Colleges Group, Doncaster Deaf Trust, Northern College, RNN Group, The Sheffield College, University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre and The Chesterfield College. The partners are united in boosting the skills of the region’s current and future workforce and enhancing opportunities for all across the region.
Emily Birchall, Digital Pedagogy Team Leader said: “It was great to have so many different institutions in one place. Everyone was able to contribute to the conversation and had time to meet others and connect around what is working well for them.
“There was a real sense of community that allowed people to bring challenges to the table and work together to solve them. I look forward to seeing this continue over the next year.”
