If you’re passionate about theatre or live events and want to turn that passion into a career, now is the perfect time. There’s a real shortage of skilled professionals in production and technical management—and that’s exactly the gap our course is designed to fill. With theatre production growing by 4% over the past three years, the industry is expanding and looking for fresh talent. The UAL Level 2 Award in Performing and Production Arts is designed to prepare you for further progression to our Level 3 Technical Theatre course.
This course is designed to prepare you for further progression to our Level 3 Technical Theatre course. You will work alongside Music and Performing Arts staff and students, supporting and organising performances and productions. During the course you will develop your communication skills, self-confidence and gain core skills and knowledge related to being an events technician. You will also learn how to select, utilise and maintain the appropriate industry equipment/technology. This year equips you with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience to kickstart your career.
Specific topics covered may include:
Internal and external client requirements
Planning an event/production
Different stages of an event/production
Use of industry equipment and /or technology eg: lighting and sounds
Client requirements, legislation and risk assessment

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
