Plumbing Technical Certificate Level 2 Full-time

Level 2 Plumbing Technical Certificate, awarded by City and Guilds, is a highly regarded vocational qualification designed for individuals aged 16-18, who want to begin a career in the building services industry.

This course provides the essential skills and knowledge required to progress towards employment, an apprenticeship, or further study at Level 3. This qualification is an ideal starting point for anyone serious about becoming a qualified plumber, combining practical workshop experience with underpinning theory to reflect real industry practices.

The course is highly practical, with most of the learning taking place in specialist plumbing workshops, supported by classroom-based theory.

Throughout the course, you will develop core plumbing skills, including:

  • Cold Water Systems: installation, testing and maintenance

  • Hot Water Systems: principles, components and installation methods

  • Sanitation and Drainage: above-ground systems

  • Central Heating: basic domestic heating systems and components

  • Pipework Fabrication: working with copper, plastic and low carbon steel

  • Health and Safety: essential legislation and safe working practices within building services

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
