Plumbing Level 1 Diploma Part-Time

This qualification is designed for adult students who want to develop the basic practical skills and knowledge required for plumbing.

You will learn about a range of plumbing and heating installation tasks, developing both practical skills and the underpinning knowledge needed to work safely and effectively.

The course is delivered in our fully equipped plumbing workshops and state-of-the-art classrooms by experienced, dual-qualified tradespeople and tutours, giving you the opportunity to learn from industry professionals in a practical environment.

Whether you want to develop useful plumbing skills to tackle jobs at home and potentially save on costly call-outs, or you are considering a career change, this course provides a valuable introduction to the industry and the opportunity to achieve a recognised qualification.

No previous plumbing experience is required.

The course is made up of the following units:

  • Structure of the construction industry

  • Fundamental safe working practices

  • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings

  • Site preparation for working in the construction industry

  • Above ground drainage

  • Copper pipework

  • Plastic pressure pipework

  • Low carbon steel pipework

  • Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems

  • Plumbing science

The units are assessed by multiple choice tests and practical tasks.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
