Are you creative, imaginative and passionate about games, art and digital media? The Games Development with

Graphic Design Diploma will help you develop the practical skills, creative confidence and industry knowledge needed to begin your journey into the games and creative industries.

Over one year, you'll explore how games are designed and how visual artwork is created to engage players and communicate ideas. You'll work on a range of exciting creative projects that introduce you to both games design and graphic communication, developing skills that are valued across the wider creative sector.

You'll create work across a range of disciplines, including:

  • Games design and idea development

  • Character and concept art

  • Digital illustration and image creation

  • Poster and promotional design

  • Branding and logos

  • Layout and page design

  • Level design and world building

  • Basic 3D modelling and asset creation

  • User interface design

  • Creative project development

Throughout the course, you'll develop creative thinking, visual communication, research and problem-solving skills while learning industry-standard software and digital production techniques. You'll be encouraged to experiment with different styles, explore your creativity and develop confidence in presenting your ideas.

You'll work in a studio-style environment, responding to project briefs and developing practical creative skills similar to those used by designers, artists and games developers.

The course is designed to help you build a strong portfolio and prepare for progression onto Level 3 Games Development, Graphic Design or other creative media programmes.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
