Digital Skills in Content Creation Level 2 Award Part-time (in partnership with Best of Barnsley)
Delivered in partnership with Best of Barnsley, this hands-on Digital Skills for Content Creation course is ideal for anyone who wants to develop creative and technical skills for social media, marketing and digital storytelling.
You’ll gain two qualifications on completion - the Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Digital Marketing and the Level 2 Award in Digital Skills in Content Creation. Together, they give you the skills and knowledge to plan, produce and promote engaging digital content across multiple platforms.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll explore the core principles of digital marketing and content creation, focusing on how social media can be used as a powerful, free platform for promoting businesses, brands and ideas.
Digital Marketing Units
You’ll learn how to plan, manage and evaluate a marketing campaign — from setting goals to measuring success. You’ll research and analyse different marketing platforms, including:
Social media
Websites
TV, print and digital advertising
You’ll also learn to:
Understand digital marketing approaches used across sectors
Create a proposal for a marketing campaign to promote a company, product or service
Reflect on campaign performance and identify areas for improvement
Content Creation Units
You’ll develop the creative and technical skills needed to produce digital content for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. This includes:
Identifying target audiences and setting goals
Planning, filming and editing video content
Optimising videos for each platform
Scheduling posts and engaging with your audience
You’ll use industry-relevant software to support your project work, with guided pathways to help you plan, produce and present your final piece.
Throughout the course you’ll:
Research and plan a content project
Produce and edit digital media
Showcase your final work
Reflect on your progress and skills development

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
