Counselling Therapeutic Diploma Level 4 Part-time

The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is designed for students with a Level 3 qualification. Delivered over two years, the course combines classroom and online learning to enhance digital skills. It includes a work placement for the practical application of theory and networking opportunities. Students will explore ethical standards, casework supervision, and safeguarding in counselling, preparing them for professional practice.

There are two study options available:

  • Daytime: Thursdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm

  • Evening: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5.30pm to 8.30pm

You will cover:

  • Counsellor-Professional Relationships: Understand the relationship between counsellors and other professionals and explore ethical conflicts.

  • Casework Supervision and Safeguarding: Learn the importance of supervision and how to assess risk in safeguarding.

  • Cultural Competency in Counselling: Explore the impact of culture and power dynamics in the therapeutic relationship.

  • Therapeutic Theory: Analyse one major therapeutic theory and compare it with others.

  • Counselling Skills Development: Develop practical counselling skills and manage session structure.

  • Self-Awareness in Counselling: Reflect on how your counselling philosophy impacts self and relationships.

  • Research in Counselling: Understand the role of research and learn how to present findings.

  • Supervised Counselling Placement Practice: Analyse the influence of theory on practice and evaluate learning from supervision.
