Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Community Pathway) Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship
Course Overview
Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Community Pathway) Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship
This innovative programme offers a fresh, relevant, and engaging route for both current and aspiring community practitioners working within children’s social care. Designed to strengthen professional practice and open up future career pathways, the course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel within their roles and related disciplines.
The Level 4 Community Pathway has been developed in direct response to employer needs, supporting workforce development, staff retention, and clear progression opportunities for children’s social care practitioners. It provides a robust and meaningful pathway for those looking to advance their professional practice while remaining in employment.
The apprenticeship is typically completed over two years, with learners achieving the Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) within a year. As part of the programme, learners will study the Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Cert HE, delivered in partnership with the University of Hull, achieving both Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Higher Apprenticeship; and the academic qualification - the Level 4 Children Young People and Families Certificate in Higher Education (Cert HE) (validated by the University of Hull).
Read the 2025-26 Guide for Collaborative Provision Students (UK) to find out how the relationship between the University of Hull and Barnsley College University Centre works; the services and facilities the University of Hull has available to you; and your rights and obligations as a student taking a validated programme with the University of Hull.
