Access to Higher Education: Engineering Level 3 Diploma Full-time
The Access to Higher Education Engineering course is designed to build the academic skills and technical knowledge you need to progress to Higher Education in Engineering (or related subjects). Assessment is a mix of formative (ongoing feedback through discussion and tutor support) and summative (final submitted work for each unit).
Course structure and credits
The course includes ungraded mandatory units (the core study skills) plus optional ungraded units and a range of graded academic engineering units.

Ungraded optional units (up to 9 credits)

Graded academic units (main technical focus)
These units are assessed for Pass/Merit/Distinction using QAA Grading Standards, and your work must meet all learning outcomes for each unit.

Electrical principles: Electricity (0374), Application of Electrical/Electronic Principles (2907)

Control/automation: Selecting and Using Programmable Controllers (3319)

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.
If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
