Reloved Boutique, our sustainable education hub and preloved clothing shop, has been shortlisted for the Business Community Impact Award at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Reloved Boutique offers high-quality, pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories donated by staff, students and the local community. The store is run by staff and students from the College’s Learning for Living and Work programmes, providing them with valuable work experience in retail, customer service, stock management and marketing, while supporting sustainability and the circular economy.

The Business Community Impact Award recognises organisations that make a meaningful difference to their local communities, and the shortlisting reflects the positive impact Reloved Boutique has had since opening its doors in November 2024 – having raised more than £4,500 for local charities and saved more than 2,000 items from landfill.

Nicola Thomson-Dewey, Head of Learning for Living and Work at Barnsley College, said: I’m so proud of everything Reloved Boutique has achieved in such a short space of time. All students and staff involved have worked incredibly hard to make the boutique a success, and being shortlisted for this award is a fantastic recognition of their dedication, creativity and community spirit.”

Carrie Sudbury, CEO of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, expressed the importance of the awards, stating:Being shortlisted for the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards is a significant achievement that speaks to the hard work, innovation, and dedication of your business. It highlights your contribution to our region’s economic growth and community spirit. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and I look forward to celebrating your successes with you at the awards ceremony this November."

The winners of the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards will be announced at the celebration event in November.
